Welcome to Ask Maps & Directions 2.0. Here is a quick overview of some of the new features:
Draggable Maps Move the map around by clicking and holding the map and moving the mouse to your desired location. Double-click on an exact point to automatically recenter the point to that location. Multipoint Directions Most current mapping products assume you only need to get from one point to another, but often times you have multiple destinations to get to. Ask Maps & Directions lets you get either driving or walking directions for up to 10 locations at once (even your way back home). Dynamic Locations Want to find another address or calculate a route to a new location or change the order of your itinerary? Use the following tips to help make adjustments quickly. Reorder Locations: Simply left-click on the red flag of a location in the left panel to move it to a different point in the itinerary and your route is instantly updated. Move Locations: Left-click and hold the mouse on a location on the map to move it somewhere else and we will snap it to the nearest street or cross-street. Add Locations: If you're lazy and don't want to type in an address to add a new location simply right-click and a point to bring up a menu and select "Add location" to get the address for that point. Advanced Keyboard Support Many people prefer to use keyboard to perform basic actions and our maps product allows you to do so with a comprehensive list of functions (listed in the right column). Auto-Drive Once you have entered in two or more locations you can press the play button on the map to drive the whole route before you get in the car. Click pause at anytime to look at a specific point in more detail or click stop to exit. |
 Quick Tips Keyboard Hot-Keys Note: You must click on the map panel to enable hot-keys Up Arrow - Move North Down Arrow - Move South Left Arrow - Move West Right Arrow - Move East (Use any of these in combination to move diagonally) (Hold down to speed up...like fast-forwarding on a VCR) Ctrl + Up Arrow - Zoom in Ctrl + Down Arrow - Zoom out "+" - Zoom in "-" - Zoom out Number keys to move directly to that point. For example: Press "1" will pan to the starting location. Press "2" will pan to the second location. ... ... All the way up to "0" to get to the 10th location. Using the Mouse Right-click - Bring up a menu on the map at anytime with several useful actions at your disposal. You can add a new location, zoom in, re-center, etc. Left-click and hold a flag on the map - And then move to a different location. The flag will then snap to the nearest street or cross-street. |
