What is the Ask Updater?


The ASK Updater is a client application that came with your Ask Toolbar. The Updater's job is to keep your Toolbar up to date to provide you with new features and to increase compatibility.
The ASK Updater may also remind you to upgrade certain features of your Windows computer such as browsers, and other optional Microsoft or other software clients.


Can I turn off the Ask Updater?


Yes, you can turn off the Updater by clicking "Reminder Options" and selecting "Don't remind me again and turn off the Updater".


I don't want the Ask Updater and I want to uninstall it.


You may at any time uninstall the Updater. Depending upon how you installed the Updater, the uninstall may be tied to your Browser Add-On and both would be uninstalled at the same time.
In Windows XP, it is in Control Panel under Add/Remove Programs. Select Add/Remove Programs and look for the entry for ASK Updater. Click on that and then click on Uninstall.
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, it is within Control Panel and under the option for Windows Program and Features. Again, select the ASK Updater and click on Uninstall.


How frequent does the Ask Updater remind me?


The Updater is programmed to notify you only once per 24 hour period if you didn't interact with its message.If you selected one of the options, it will not remind you again until another event such as the Browser Add-On being disabled or other issue forces the Updater to notify you.If you selected "Never Remind Me Again" from the menu, the Updater will never notify you.
